Detailed Video Descriptions
- 1 - Flowing Sand (Running Time - 9:02)
In this tutorial, Michael Sim shows you how to create an illusion of flowing sand. The effect slowly fills up the stage, revealing the image that you wish to create this effect with. The illusion can be visually stunning, depending on your choice of image for this effect. This technique utilizes masks and image copies to create the flowing sand effect.
- 2 - Rolling Ball (Running Time - 4:21)
This tutorial will cover the ever so popular rolling ball tutorials from Flash, and go beyond to help familiarize you with many of Swishmax's animation properties. This tutorial also covers how to tweak object animation from any of Swishmax's built in effects, through the transform menu.
- 3 - Vector Based Glass Orb (Running Time - 6:39)
Learn how to create a trendy glass orb inside of Swishmax. Users will be able to create this object from scratch, and also have the ability to edit the color of the orb by changing the color on the base layer.
- 4 - Externally Loaded Swfs (Running Time - 7:57)
This tutorial will teach the proper technique to load an external swf file into the main swf file of your site. This is a Must-Have technique that dramatically cuts down on the file size of your main movie. It also helps to allow any basic elements to load faster, since your flash movie will not be bogged down by imbedded animations.
- 5 - 3D Waving Flag (Running Time - 4:15)
This tutorial will show you how to take an ordinary image and create a 3D waving flag that looks like it is blowing in the wind.
- 6 - Bouncing Ball (Running Time - 7:30)
In this tutorial, Michael Sim will show you how to make objects bounce using velocity, gravity, and friction as Swishscript variables.
- 7 - Exploding Text (Running Time - 5:02)
In this tutorial, Michael Sim will show you how make your text explode. If you already know how to achieve this effect using built in presets, you will want to learn how to do it manually in order to gain more control over the explosion effect. This will also help to familiarize you with the break into pieces modification.
- 8 - Masks and Instances (Running Time - 9:18)
In this tutorial, you will learn how to use instances to create elaborate masks that can be used in a variety of applications such as image transitions, slideshows, and more.
- 9 - Animated Rollover (Running Time - 8:55)

- 10 - Mask Text (Running Time - 6:48)
In this tutorial, Michael Sim will demonstrate how to combine text and masks together to create stunning animations.
- 11 - Focal Blur Effect (Running Time - 5:01)
This tutorial shows you how to integrate Photoshop’s blur filters to create an out-of-focus copy of the image you wish to create this effect with. Once the copy is made, you will be able to import into Swishmax, and then using fade-in and fade-out commands, create the illusion of an out-of-focus object slowly coming into focus.
- 12 - Break Apart Technique and Appear Position Effects (Running Time - 9:19)
In this tutorial, you will find alternative ways to create image slideshow and transition effects. With this technique, you will see that there are thousands of different combinations and effects possible with Swishmax's built in effects.
- 13 - Rotate (Running Time - 4:06)
